Garages, of course, can just pick up the phone and a set of bearings arrive an hour or two later... and if they turn out not to be needed, they just go back on the next parts delivery van for credit. Not to mention that replacing the bearings at the same time as the discs, compared to inspecting, cleaning, regreasing, would actually reduce the labour bill half an hour or so - with less chance of the job coming back at you.
