Heater Fan blowers insufficient

Post by nonny112i »

Today I have delved into putting a new fan motor into my van!
The motor works on every setting fine but it seems to vibrate a lot and Doesn't seem to be pushing Out much air.
I still need to put one more self tapper in through the grill as I dropped one behind the rad.
And the 3rd heater Cable down has snagged and doesn't Work the bottom flaps.
Could either of these problems cause the fan to be blowing out so little and vibrating like it is?
Thanks for any knowledge of what it could be? Its soo Frustrating after how Long it's took!

Cheers Jonny

Neither of those problems could cause vibration (imho).

Where did you get the new blower motor from ?

The only thing I can think of that could cause your symptoms, other than a faulty motor, is if the fan on the motor is catching on summat ? I guess you would be able to determine that by the noise it makes ?

I have not yet done this job, but I soon will have to ! Just hoping mine will last out this winter so I can do it in warmer weather !

Found this behind my heater matrix, that reduced the airflow a little.

If you've opened the heater box, then the matrix is just inside. It lifts out pretty easily.

It's not complicated, I'm sure you'd be able to do it. Think of all that lovely warm air you'd have!

Turn's out I just needed to reverse the polarity to the motor as it was turning the wrong way (they work great now :D ) I assumed like a muppet that the red coming out of the motor would be the live. Just to give everyone a heads up who's going to do the job check the direction of the motor wired up first before putting it all back!
