Re: In at the deep end...
If i started to consider doing it i'd have a very hard search for a syncro that's already a camper.
Not quite sure of your meaning Al, think I know, but can you reword that.. (its a quandry I'm in too)
Sorry Clive, what i meant was if I started to consider cutting the roof off my van to fit a pop top/high top. Then I would have a good look around to see if I could find a van with a hole in the roof already.
Every decision I make about my van takes into consideration whether it will be detrimental to its 'panel van' status.
Half of me wants to chop it up and make it exactly what I want (much like Dai has) the other half of me keeps remembering just how rare a RHD panel van is.
It's a continual paradoxical mind bender..
Re: In at the deep end...
Ah! Of course upon re-reading I see.
..and close to how I feel. The one thing i would consider, though likely won't get to ever, is a full metal VW sunroof. The sliding door will be changed for a windowed one. Oh! what a quandry, but I suppose there are worse ones

Re: In at the deep end...
These panel van owners are funny, they want to cut holes in their vans to make them more useable/better, but in the future, think people will want panel vans!!!
Not having ago, just a funny observation.

Re: In at the deep end...
Karl that's very true. I'm all up for doing what ever floats your boat when it comes to modding cars and vans but I also have a bit of a conscious. I have no worries about cutting my rhd doka about because its a rough ish one. My panel van is original and will make a really nice van so I'm a bit concerned about that one.

Re: In at the deep end...
I see your point, I guess to take a jig-saw to a split-screen panel van would be seen as abit of a sin. But it is also true to say that the a panel splitty is probably the least valued body-tgype.
Another question is..... Will the T3 ever reach splitty status?.......... IMO, Probably not.

Re: In at the deep end...
Bloody hell Harry, your opening a hole cana worms their!

Re: In at the deep end...
Agree Karl, probably not....Will the T3 ever reach splitty status?.
More worms... ?
nevertheless, a straight clean panelvan.. maybe the value, rarity, interest, is that it..................
always could be cut about?
A bit like losing its maidenhead, always a valued attribute, n'est pas

Re: In at the deep end...
How rare is a Rhd panelvan ? And surely is it not better to have a van you can comfortably camp in use etc surely what you lose in originality would be offset by the ability to resell to a larger audience and would save quite a bit in terms of having to address your bad posture from years being hunched over in standing around in a panelvan
