Cheers. :ok

You have to cut and shape the upper and lower housing. I used the carbide burr and a junior hacksaw. No way will it fit without doing it. Well worth the effort in my opinion.

Good job, might well borrow that off you in the coming weeks.
stupid question time then, if i wanted a couple spare keys with the chip in it, i presume i need to take my key out of the loom and into a shop, or is there another way of doing it without needing to take the key out?

you have to trim the plastic housings as they are normally a close fit on the barrel same as Andy's done but his sensor seems to be a bit bulkier than Tom's, guess they vary depending on source

As already said, you could get a flip-key with a profile N blade, though check there's enough space between the lock and back of steering wheel. eg.

no problem with the space on mine, it has the power steering size wheel
the fob needs to be trimmed slightly to allow for the odd shape of the flip key because it does not have a flat end like all other flips

Thought i'd sort this immob issue, as, as mentioned earlier its good to have a modern way of immobilising the van.
fitted ring around ignition barrel
Image
Then thought i'd pop down the road and get a key made up with the chip in it......... Not that easy apparently, as our key is a N profile and is not a off the shelf thing to have as a chipped key
So i've ordered two N profile blank blades that will fit into the flip key pictured by busbuddy above.
In the meantime i didn't really want to be holding a second key next to the barrel every time i started the engine. So i cut up my ignition key, heated and removed the key blade from the donor and fitted mine into it.

All works, and will be a good spare for when i get the flip key made

Ok! Prepare to be amazed! :D
flip key blade and chip
Image
you have to knock out the roll pin to remove the blank blade that is already fitted
Image
N blade cut to profile, blank blade and roll pin
Image
then its just a matter of fitting roll pin back in with your key
Image
Next the immobiliser chip, split the flip unit in half
Image
you can see the hole for the chip here
Image
chip fitted, this is a bit loose due to being a older style chip. I pushed a bit of blue tack into the hole to keep it in place
Image
And yes it does fit my barrel and clears the steering wheel!!
Image
Image
Total cost for it was;
blade £15
flip unit with coded chip £19
so £34 all in, not too bad really :D

Awsome.
Now waiting for the next stage, when you make the buttons on the flip key actually do something. :)

Get yourself some central locking lloyd. I put it on mine ages ago and its brilliant. ive only got the front doors and the slider on the key fob at the mo, but plan to link the tailgate in at some point.

I just used one of those kits you see on ebay, it was cheap and has so far been very reliable. Only downside i've found is that my door locks have seized up because i never use them anymore.
