TDI immob chip fitted to T25 key

Post by lloydy »

just thinking out loud really, wondering if its a easy thing to do. At the moment i have the usual and perfectly acceptable TDI key and immob joined and hid in the loom. Has anyone ever fitted the immob ring to the T25 ignition barrel and then put the chip into a key?

Mines in the key.immobiliser is fitted to the barrel as it was in the donor.

Only works if the keys in the barrel.

Its a mk3 or 4 golf fob...key blade removed.... my blade shaped to fit and grafted in.programmed to the immobiliser
It has a light too......but I don't have a battery in.
Spare key exactly the same.

Works good.

Mines the same as Keith's as our conversions were done by Mario. The immobiliser ring sits over the ignition barrel. maybe not the neatest way but I prefer to have VW security.

Thanks, I was going to get discodave to do me a more modern flip key, that's why I thought I'd ask about the immob thing.

I'm happy with my set up, but if it can be put on the barrel and key, I might well do that.
Any one have a pic of the ring fitted? Just so I can see what it looks like
Cheers

i will take one tonight.

Disco looked into a flip key for me at Bustypes....unfortunately the blanks he had for the flip would not fit my locks....
that would be the perfect solution.

It's on my to-do list, part of the work I'm doing to get the Passat cluster (with built-in immo) fitted. I'm also considering swapping out the lock housing for a CE2 one, fitting early T4 stalks, and a later plastic housing with space for the immo pickup coil.

As already said, you could get a flip-key with a profile N blade, though check there's enough space between the lock and back of steering wheel. eg.

The other thing to say is that if you did this, you'd want to have the key chip 'cloned' to provide a working spare..

agreed....i was paranoid about a working spare.
i now have two transponder keys and a spare std key losing any key is bad...but your transponder would be worse.

Ah! ok, it really is that easy then? Just pushed on to the ignition barrel, looks ok too. Will look into doing that now, shouldn't be too tricky as my immob and key are quite near there
cheers for the pics :ok

It took about an hour or so. Cutting, checking, cutting....

I don't what it is called but I strongly recommend using one of these

What did you have to cut? Looks like it just fits on the barrel?
