Spark Plugs

Post by freckvan1 »

Evening all,

I've looked at Wiki and still have a conundrum!

My Van is a 1984, 1,9 W/c, DG engine.

I've been given new Spark Plugs from local VW Franchaise, the new ones are :-

+1
BOSCH WR 7 DC +

Single electrode, plus Yttrium !

Are these Ok to use ? I'm obviously reluctant to do so until fellow members have done.

Thanks,

Chris

I don't know about saluting the WIKI...sometimes it can be misleading for example..on the subject of spark plugs where original Bosch numbers are quoted and no longer available.
For example...can't remember the last time I saw W7CO's for sale.
Spark plug technology has simply moved on but better alternatives are available.
The closest to the original single electrode would probably be the Bosch W7DC....the ones you have are almost identical but with built in supressor resistors to minimise radio interference...that's all.

W7DTC's are also quoted and these are the long life triple electrode versions of the W7DC..I have used these with good results but the electrode gaps are much larger than 0.7mm ....closer to 0.9 - 1.00mm and non adjustable, so how does that work then lol.

Like I say, the ones you have will be fine...next time go for straight W7DC's with 0.7mm gaps.
