3 Pin Fog Light Switch Install

would just like to run this past you to see if I am thinking along the right lines....I am going to install a VW 3 pin Foglight switch, complete with self illuminating buld and holder (MM supplied ) I am wiring in a foglight for MOT. The switch will go on the right side of the instrument housing so like this, so the pin config will be as per the second pic.

Nick and I had a compare to his which has the switch in the same place from factory and we reckon that if i wire it up like this

I should be able to sort something at the rear end as I will have livened up the grey white in the black box. (that will be 'stage 2') what do you think? - are we along the right lines with the assigning of pins on the switch? it seems to be that way on his - I am assuming that by picking up a live feed (which is spare on my fusebox at present but is the same as the one used on Nicks fusebox) from the bottom right of the fusebox back (as you look 'through' it) this will become 'live' when the main lights are switched up allowing two things...the fogs to work (only work once lights are on) and by turning the lights on the switch should light up along with all other 'dash lights'. If this is all correct (?) then why is the centre connection ('on' feed to back of van ) and the illumination light connected by a copper strip? Im worried we are missing something and the switch will only illuminate itself when the rear fogs are switched on. Electrics not my forte. Any thoughts? cheers jes

or....does the bulb illuminate the switch (the fog light symbol) or does it illuminate the red light to say fogs are 'on' if its that then forget the last part above as clearly it would need to come on at same time therefore the two would need to be linked (copper strip)

The lamp illuminates the 'fog lights on' indicator and is integral to the switch. It comes on when the switch is in the furthest position (rear fog on) not the first position (front fogs). I have absolutely no idea why that is.
Having recently added front fogs to my van I have detailed pictures of wiring etc but I'm at the 'Run To The Hills' show at the moment and it's not raining so I'll post them up later (when it is raining)

What year's your van and how come you don't already have a rear fog?
