Tdi conversion: rev counter

Post by donciuz »

Hi

I have recently put a golf Tdi engine 1Z/AHU instead of a JX. I am using golf alternator. I have connected rev counter to the alternator as previuos, but now it shows a lot more revs. Going 70mph previously was about 3000rpm, now its over 4000rpm.
Is there any way to correct that?

thanks

feel around where the paper label is on the back of the tacho- there is a small hole underneath. puncture the paper and you can recalibrate/tweek it via the hole.

Mine has been adjusted but it still over reads by 200RPM at tick over. Sell you rev counter and with the money buy a Sangauge 2!

have you got one now Tom? Do agree though, if you have one you don't need a rev counter, or any other additional guages

Or fit a freewheel pulley....it's bigger...and you can get bigger still off other stuff than vw.

Or run an AAZ belt system so the alternator isn't poking out of the lid and you can use the standard rev counter
