Any ideas what could be wrong?!

Post by Hedgedweller »

My t25 1.9 petrol bus has developed health issues, just wondering if anyone can help identify the problem.
I recently had a new exhaust fitted at a local garage where the engine was taken out due to every existing bolt snapping off in the block from the old exhaust, these were profesionally removed.
all seemed fine i ran the bus for maybe 10 miles, then it started to 'hold back' then the ignition light came on and it died.I tried to start it again but it wouldnt go.I gave her half hour to collect her thoughts then tried again and she fired up,just got me home.this happened two more occasions, now i'm frightened to take her out.
She is now resting in the dry barn untill i can get her better.any advice would be much appreciated,i'm not that mechanically minded as i tend to loose all the skin an my knuckles when i look at spanners.I have a fully functioning kettle if anyone is in the area-Near Dunmow in Essex. Thanks to you all :!:

Have they disconnected the wiring to the carb and rewired it wrongly ? Sounds like the fuel cut-off solenoid is being activated by the carb heater sensor.

Ian.

Let me know if you are off Wednesday and I will pop round. I am no expert but have had issues with carb in the past. Neil.

When you say "it wouldn't go" do you mean it turned over good and fast but would not start, or do you mean it would not turn over properly ?

From the bit I have quoted above, esp re the ignition light coming on, it sounds like it ain't charging and a flat battery may have summat to do with it, (they recover a bit when left to stand for a while). If so it is likely summat daft like alternator wiring or slipping fan belt.
