intermitant wipers thanks to wiki

Post by ambibus »

Just gained intermitant wipers by following the advice in wiki, opened glove box checked if I had relay with '19' stamped on it in number 10 position which I had. Removed very flimsy feeling trim around steering column and flicked out white nylon spacer with my thumb nail. hey presto intermitant wipers!. Can't believe I've been manually 'single wiping' the windscreen for 2 years. Took me longer to get the trim back on for fear of breaking any of the fragile looking plastic tabs. Thanks Wiki, just need to get my intermitant hot start problem fixed now :D

Now for _real_ luxury, find a "99" relay - straight swap, and gives you variable delay!

that's good trick, I like! However, just looked at my fuse box, and (according to the WIKI piece) I have an old style fuse system
Would someone please post up a picture of the newer style?

Old style method (early ceramic fusebox) is in the wiki (are you sure you looked? ).

There is no relay cluster like on the late fuse box but you can easily tweek the wiki method to suit wherever you want to site the relay :ok

I'm sure the 99 relay will work too if you want to change the time of the delay, not that I've ever had a problem with the standard 19

I have replaced mine for the 99 and have the lights on buzzer, but how do I activate/change the wiper delay?

micky, set time delay by turning wipers to intermittent then, off for the desired time delay (upto 20 seconds i think) then back to intermittent position and voila, programmable wipers :ok
