Back bumper (big bumper) for T25

This chap seems to say he'll do me a back bumper for £130.

Which is beginning to sound a bit more reasonable.

a) Is there anything else I should be asking about these?
b) how much work is involved in fitting? (everything seems easy in the haynes manual) I think the most complicated thing I've ever done is replace a fuel pump
c) Is painting a bumper as easy as I think it would be?

Thought I'd ressurect this.

I would really appreciate it if someone could explain, in laymans terms, why it would be a bad idea to replace the new style (carat/big bumper) rear bumper with an old style one. Struggling to find one under £200 (other leads went dead), and £70 for an old style one seems a bargin. I am sure there is probably a massive flaw in my thinking.

Can someone explain why my thinking is flawed? bad build quality? doesn't fit?

Avoid that chancer on ebay like the plague, Dodgy isnt the word. More shoddy! My side planks were shocking, probably wont even be able to be sorted. He has at least 3 different accounts all with varying amounts of negative feedback!

Nice one, you might be able to answer me, other than looks, putting on an old style bumper is bad because....?

Nope it's just looks
Don't buy aftermarket ones they don't fit.
buy genuine VW bumpers (used) avoid rubber bump strip bumpers, the holes are unsightly if not used
Bolt caps and end caps are available.

i am shure the back bumper could be fixed i have definately fixed worse than that , to fix just screw the bumper back together on the outside of bumper using alloy strips self tapped into bumper to hold it secure , then chanfer where it is broken on the rear of bumper with a die grinder so its gives maximum are for the fibreglass to bond to then key the rear of bumper with grinder around the crack so the fibreglass will bond to it , when this has gone of apply another couple of layers of glass mat , later when the 2nd lot of matting has gone of probably 24 hours remove the alloy plates then grind out the damage from the outside of bumper and apply fibreglass mat the chopped type when this has hardened gring back and finish with body filler , it wont look pretty on the rear but from the outside you should not be able to tell , if not instead of looking for a rear bumper just look out for a middle section of bumper as it will be easier to locate than the full 3 pieces as its usually the corner pieces what get damaged first , if i can help more pm me and i will explain in more detail

I bought my big bumpers from 'Blaze Motorsport ' (BML on ebay) very good fit and good people to deal with. They have been on camper for 2 years now and no problems. Hope that helps.

I did a bit of a temporary fix this weekend, it certainly won't win any prizes for beauty, but seems to be holding the bumper on fine.

I think this is the furthest I can get without buying a grinder.

1) Will the van pass the MOT like this? If not what else do I need to do (except buy a new bumper)
2) What type of fiberglass do you reccomend?
