Back bumper (big bumper) for T25

Post by chrisben »

Hi

Managed to smash my back bumper for my beloved T25 (1990) Holdsworth Villa 3 Conversion. Its a bigger more modern rear bumper, the only ones I can find on Just Kampers are the older style ones.

I've got a few questions.

1. Do the older ones fit?
eg
(http://www.justkampers.com/shop/rear-bu ... 11603.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

2. Are they hard to replace? (I don't own tools, but the Haynes manual seems to think it's pretty easy, but I've replaced a few things before and its usually there is a technique to it that is never explained). Just Kampers seems to think it MAY need some adjustment.

3. Where can you get big bumpers?
My engine seized in december and after having to fork out of that I'm keen to go easy on my wallet this month.

Any advice, knowledge or links are as always greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Slightly feared that 70 quid was too good to be true. Think I'll have to have a proper look for some second hand parts :)

Thanks, That'll teach me to reverse into a bollard!

I'll go out and take some pictures in the light tomorrow.

Its in two parts, so I (wrongly?) assumed that it was game over. I'm london based but regularly travel up to sheffield (family from there).

As requested I took a few pics of the damage.

Its not rusty underneath just a bit dirty, I have kept the other half of the bumper just in case but I seemed to do a proper job on it.

Thanks for the ones online. How hard are they to fit?

talk about understatement, ( i managed to smash etc etc ) :rofl if you was desperate then yep it could be done but...... methinks another should be sourced, wont harm to drive round like that till you find one at the right money.

I managed to damage it in quite a strange way, my wheel went over a retractable bollard which bounced up and caught the edge of my bumper and prized it away, didn't even realise it was possible to do.

Although the other section is slightly wonky I've had a look and it seems to be pretty much in place. I've had mixed reactions about how long I can drive around with it, but figured that if I keep the other part of the bumper in the boot then I can always claim it was pretty fresh and apologies.

As I said, along with a new engine at the start of the month its been expensive start to 2012.

Final (hopefully) question, when sourcing bumpers is there anything I should be aware of particularly?

Bad use of words by me, it was a car parking lock, sort of pole shaped, locks in an up and down position, I dove over it, flicked into up position doh.

Thanks for the advice though. You've all been a great help.
