Re: Urgent help fitting new window rubbers
not to difficult.Fit the rubbers to the van, spray them with some soapy water(and keep spraying them).Place the window in the rubber(bot first)then flip/force the rubber around the glass, with a plastic spatula,or similar(not a screwdriver or anything else metal).
We should all start to live before we get too old. Fear is stupid. So are regrets.

Then you need the tool to insert the locking strip into the rubber

Re: Urgent help fitting new window rubbers
Ok .look assuming you have the correct rubber? then remove al the soap etc, and dry them, next dry off the aperature, fit the rubber in the hole so that the join is at the top, use something like 2" masking tape on the inside to help keep it in place, though with pliable new rubber shouldnt need to , anyhow with rubber in hole get a small brush ie paintbrush and if you have no rubber lube then brush a slight ammount of fairy into the groove the glass sits in, then as said glass into bottom and if you dont have the tool (looks like a small 3/16" ball on the end of a screwdriver then a bit of plastic a teaspoon handle anything like that that isnt sharp and use one forearm to keep the glass in and t'other hand to work the seal over the glass, Im rht handed so start doing the bottom then work up rht side to top(but not the corner itself, then same on left side then do top corners and in, then you will need to fit the expansion/locking strip. pig without the tool though, whip the van down to an auto glass place if you are really desperate.

Re: Urgent help fitting new window rubbers
Hi MM,
Thanks so much for your advice last year when trying to fit new window seals to my coverted transporter.
I managed in the end to fit all rubbers as you suggested but have subsequently found out that Schofields sent me the wrong seals. The glass and metal recessess were the same width, about 4mm.
My understanding is the seal to glass ressess is 4mm but for the bodywork the gap should only be about 1.5mm. Hence the reason when attempting to fit seals they kept collapsing inwards.
Do you supply or can you recommend a supplier who will send the correct sizes?
Thanks again
Stuart
