Post by David Eccles »

there are some very upsetting accusations here and b4 it gets acrimonious can I just provide some info?
It was never made clear to me till this week the club wanted to display and camp with that display all weekend.
Camping on display field has never been an option at Camperjam. So we tried and found another place where this could happen. But as so late in day logistics of contacting all and sorting correct passes etc was deemed too much so reverted to original plan to display on show area. Its still possible to set up whatever you want there all weekend but you cant camp there.
We also arranged at short notice for a club camping area for Syncronauts. All club camping is prebooked so toilets allocated on known numbers unlike free for all camping last year and resulting probs. Some already had tickets and wanted to change so were asked to send back to get correct passes to correct area (highly controlled this year due to numbers booked already). Sorry I did not internalise this meant added costs for you; mea culpa. There was and still is also a very special arrangement for some non booked arrivals to get into Syncronuats area till that area is full, which I informed the club about very clearly. And two sets of complimentary weekend passes were also sent to club for people sorting the display.
I am sorry some feel aggrieved or ripped off or misled into booking simply on basis of displaying AND camping with the van in same spot. Hopefully most offering to display were coming for the show anyway....
There will STILL be an area on sat display set aside for showing off and clebrating the Syncro and I hope as many of you will want to come down and show off your legendary off roaders. I invited the club as I admire them a lot (not sycophancy either) and wanted to see a whole lot together. Great photo op!
So please come on down!
Next year we plan on discussing EARLY what club would like to do as clearly there are plans for something special - though what I still dont know  and I hope we can put his down simply to poor liaison my part in which I own up to and apologise for. Sometimes an old mans brain does not work fast enough
On a sep note re delivery charges as I dont deal with anything other than displays and show n shine I cant answer but it seems strange and I will be raising that issue with team in after show debriefing.
PLEASE find me on showfield (Display Control) and lets TALK about it not slang each other off. the team are NOT thieves nor am I.
David

Much appreciated of course David... they've gone to the deserving organisers and contributors to what was going to be a display, er which now isn't, maybe, perhaps, will be, we'll see...

Well, I obviously vented my personal frustrations there David... so apologies, will remove this thread after a short while, hopefully nothing personal, I just had a a pretty firm idea in my head, as did Doug and Myles and Matt, about what was expected and I think when posting I was just 'feeling' for those others who while I've been away, have been mailing/thinking/re-thinking/re-mailing/re-posting/guessing/estimating/re-estimating/planning/re-planning etc as well as Jenny who has done her usual pin-board display of recent events, getting loads of digi photos of recent activities printed/collected/paid-for/arranged and pinned up etc.

Still can't see CamperJam's problem with a simple place to set up a few Syncros, either with or away from where we sleep the night(s).. but this seems the modern world... complicate evrything. As much as anything, I came back to plenty comms going in both directions and plenty misunderstandings - maybe c'est la vie cette millenium. Surely CJ organisers must realise that 'line-ups' are now a bit passè

We obviously are being 'organised' rather than 'organising'... perhaps not used to the former, which grates

Of course there's also Syncropendence this
weekend and agreeing (against an inner voice) to make the effort and stay awhile on the borders with shedloads of kit on board, 'do' CamperJam, make a splash despite being a bit travel weary - in retrospect might have been a mistake.

Yes Dave (Krakenwagen) let's go and have a hoot, we'll find plenty to enjoy...

Seriously David (E)... I was just thinking of a handful who could've spent their time a bit more profitably in the last week or so if I hadn't helped encourage them to get involved, that's all, needed to vent, done that... hehe, just realised don't do it often enough :)

..but be pleased to meet up in person, where I hope we'd come across MUCH NICER :D (& all be more undertsanding of mutual frustrations)

Firstly I need to confess to being the sole person responsible for arranging displays and the show n shine...the Camperjam Team leave the bus bits to me and the actual HUGE logistics of organising the show and getting everything in place on site, which is a nightmare, is all left to them. And now I see what sorts of things may have been possible by you guys I think I need to start to be a bit more creative and work with people like yourselves to offer more than the usual parade and photo opp (though having several diff sorts of displays at CJ does work well..)
I do know advance bookings are scary in number and the team have put together a well thought out plan to make it work thru gates and into designated areas. But with one access point to show its kinda hard...diff areas have diff colour passes and it just got too late in day to try and re-issue and catch you all to ensure you got to right place - that was more the prob than finding a spot for you!
There is still as much space as you want, to set up what you want, shame to not use display boards of pics and stuff..people love reading things..its just you cant sleep in same place...but another time we can look more carefully in advance..
and the Syncronauts club camping area is still reserved....
Still hoping to see some kind of Syncro presence on display..even if a bit passe  people like me still love seeing things together....
Look fwd to finding a bit of time to chat about how I can be more innovative!
Thanks for posting this...I was dreading a VZI style witch hunt of me!
Cheers
David

Guess what ? My op was postponed today due to getting mild food poisoning last night (messy - ugh !) so I'm free this weekend and keen to come to the show with my Subaru-powered Kombi, and display it if this is happening.

Of course I've not looked at getting tickets in advance, and with the posts on this thread I'm unsure of the arrangements.

Can anyone (Dave E ?) suggest my best course of action ?

Great Andy - that'll be 2 Scooby powered Syncros then

Have you seen if Doug has sold his ticket yet?

If not, i reckon it'll be first come first served on the gate

 Too late though, as I jet-washed it at Oswestry on the way home yesterday, in anticipation of not being able to do much after my op which was supposed to be this morning..

I cant see me being able to make this as I simply have to much on at work over the next few weeks again as well as other stuff I need to take care of. If anyone wants a ticket for the Syncronautes section give me a PM.
