its is a vertical lift ratter than a pivit one. the sprimgs can get rusted up and it don't stay up and think on bays anyway they can leak.

My holdsworth villa pop top has solid sides and its great. There are hydralic springs to help lift it up but they have long since been worn out - its not that heavy. Once up and clipped into place it isn't going anywhere.

Trouble with mine is there isn't much room for a bunk bed as it doesnt stick out at the sides. Image

I had no idea how much a second hand pop top is.

Yep, it is small - i would fancy one that has a double bunk (or two singles) and room to stand up in.

However, the advantage of it being small is that our kids have to go in the tent. He he.
No leaks so far!

Fitting a pop top

Post by poolebay »

Hi all

Sorry to barge in on your conversation but I am also looking at fitting a westy pop top onto my tin top.

It looks fairly straight forward but I have two questions:

1) How do you determine the exact location for the fixings for the hinges and the front roof rack and

2) How did you go about strengthening the newly formed opening.

Any help greatly apprecaited.

Graham
