Oil top ups-help

I never manage to top up without spillage,either the number plate flips back up or my funnel/hose/cut off lemo bottle slips.

Take the top up tank lid off and trap it between the bottom of the flap when down.And the body of the van.

You DO know that the filler tube extends outwards don't you ?
