Hi all
Iv been overheating even thou thermo has been changed the dalek cap also ... unfortunatelly i lost my brother lastnight and desperatelly need the use of the van.
Basically there is steam coming from under the thermo housing it starts to occur strait away after starting even thou it stopped for a while so i went for short drive and it appeared ok but then started again (maybe cos i had the heater on it took longer to heat up).
Any ideas would be very much appreciated !

Re: Help..
Sorry to hear of your loss.
The only thing I can think of is that you may have van air lock in the system? Have you bled it? There's a thread by Baxter over on Brickyard - I'll see if I can find it and post the link.

The plastic housing has a paper gasket to the head. I use Hylomar sealer for this housing.
The plastic housing is susceptible to splitting if the flange bolts are over tightened.
The plastic top will seep coolant if it isn't tightened to the correct torque (again I use hylomar)
There is a split pipe
there is a loose pipe clip
steam will appear because the exhaust header is directly below it.
My condolence for your loss, Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time

Re: Help..
So if I've read it right, Kev is saying that steam is being produced straight away after starting the engine (i.e. the engine hasn't been running long enough to overheat), because something is leaking water onto the exhaust header and the most likely culprits to be leaking are, the thermostat housing, or a damaged pipe or loose clip in that area?
