Hi Silverbullet,
I spotted my name mentioned earlier in this thread which I have just come across.
I recently fitted a 1998 Golf AGG engine - this is again a 2 litre petrol but I'm not sure how it differs from the ADY version. Have you found this German website -
http://ph.babelfish.yahoo.com/translate ... =Translate" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - which is based around the earlier 2E engine. It was helpful to me and I think they talk about some people using ADY engines..
I have what was a 1990 TD syncro and have put the AGG in it in the diesel fashion (ie 50 degree). It uses a MkII Golf GTi fuel pump which has a surge tank incorporated and has been OK so far including long 70-75 mph runs. I am happy with the quietness, the economy and the performance. Diesel third gear is really flexible over a wide range.
I also got a lot of help on the electrics from guys on the Golf forums but it took a long while to pull all the info together to the point that I was confident to start cutting bits out of the loom.
I am in north Bucks if you want to meet up and see what I have done. I am also happy to mail you a copy of all the data so that you can see how closely it matches your Sharan installation. Let me have an email for this.
Go for it!
