If you haven't done much filling before, don't go too heavy with the layers, build it up bit by bit, usually takes at least 3 goes with profiling in between to see where you're at for the next layer. Don't be afraid of widening the damage area to get the blend in, you rarely can restrict the repair to just what you perceive to be the dent.

Good clean spatulas/flexi-spreading blades essential, you'll have from3 to 5 minutes to applly and dress it, the second it starts plasticizing, leave it alone.

Dintrol Pyroplast 2Kg tin ally filled filler I find is excellent, very smooth, creamy and workable for a few minutes. Over the correct amount of hardener usually slows it down (not speeds it up), but its not too sensitive. Mix it in thoroughly scraping 90 degrees alternately on mixing board or sheet. be very careful not to contaminate filler in tin with hardener.

A dreadnought file (body file) v.useful for initially profiling large areas . Then 40 grade on a rubber block, then 80 grade and primer/fill the scratches and 120/180 thereon. Degrease surrounding paintwork first several inches a way from repair

A ding is preety much the same as the small dint, larger dent etc but a ding is confined to a mettalic surface/structure whereas the formaer can be inflicted on any material. satisfied

Hang on whilst I get a blunt rusty knife and draw some blood for you..My spelling is a bit grim as Im learning ti touchtype.ha
Now take your nice shiny van , you can have 'ding'in the metal bodywork but not in the fibreglass roof or other non metal bits,
some lesser educated folk might think its all the same but its not, what Scouser has is a 'dent' end off

I agree, it's very clear, what a ding is and what it isn't...

S'all about the sound it makes, when doing it, and when reading the word... has to be in metal, but not too big

A really big ding is a crunch of course

I've got lots of dings, and they all take a fair bit of time to get de-dinged, undinged or less dinged. Only when completely de-dinged can it be painted, at which point you'll often still see that a bit of the ding is still there and you haven't actually fully un-dinged it.

Only one problem with wiki'ing dings, is that dedinging is taking up all my time, as soon as I de-ding one, another seems to appear, so maybe wiki-ing might stop me dinging, hence having to de-ding...

Oh forget to say, dings are very often accompanied by dangs, effectively a human accompaniment to a ding.

So you tend to get series of dings and dangs...

But AFAIK, you rarely if ever, get dangs and then dings, just doesn't happen unless you've got very quick reactions, or even pyschic sensibilities
