Dent/Scrape of bodywork on T25

Post by Robin_Scouser »

Hey Guys n gals,
Had MOT today which sailed through as smooth as the bodywork...

the previous bodywork that is, before I drove out of the garage and hit the steel post.

Checkd forum for bodywork info but couldn't find anything.

Can anyone give advice as to what I should do now? professional fix or is noobie DIY possible?

As you can see from attached photo's there is a slight dent and the paintwork has chipped off.

really appreciate any advice pups.

Thanks

Well, you can either fill it, or replace the entire panel. You may be able to minimise fill by dollying it out a little but unless in hands of pro, you can make it worse. Fill it I think.

Yep, filler would be the best way to go I think. Replacing the panel is a fairly major job.
Looks like the dent won't pop out easily as it has stretched the metal.

If you're not sure it's probably better to get a friendly local body shop to sort it. Shouldn't cost more than a couple of hundred quid.

Sounds like you've been inhaling a few too many zinc fumes

If as I think you dont know how to repair panals then either live with it, get someone to do it or ................
This is not the propper way but will maybe make it look better for you, have you got an angle grinder? if yes then grind a bit of the paint out the dent, if no grinder then get some coarse sand/glasspaper and rough it up,
then get a small tin of body filler mix as per instructions and apply to hole/dent, if youve got a spare bit of thinnish perspex or simmilar thats about 6-10 inches long then apply filler as well as you can then use larger piece of plaggy at appx 45' angle to the job and use this to pass over the filler to make it smoother, flatter and blend in with the surrounding panal.
when dry rub down with 40-60 grit paper and reapply filler till your happy , then rub down with finer paper and ucoat with primer filler from car spares place, then aerosol colour on top, rough ready but will pretty it up and dead easy and quick,
Hey what else can I say
Mike
