hair straighteners rated at lets say 50w will keep hot for that 50w but the initial heat up can pull anything up to 500w, thats why inverters don't like them

I am not 100 % sure but IIRC the straighteners will be rated at around 75 watts, so a 400 watt inverter should be ok ? I seem to recall reading somewhere as to possible problems with inductive load?

Any recommendations to which inverter to buy would also be greatly received .

Mart.

I picked up these 12V straighteners on a stall at RTTHs - I can recommend them They get MUCH hotter than the rubbish travel 240v straighteners I got in Asda. And they've got a picture of a bug on them!

Thanks for all the help and advise,

I think that for now to save beer tokens I will get some of those lovely pink 12 v straighteners from EBAY...

1664 i love the interior on your van, I have replaced most of the original Holdworth in mine with new Camper shak custom made but as yet I havnt refitted the electricary bits..... I am still contemplating whether to refit the Zig unit, I like how they look and looking at yours makes me want to do it but its a lot of work!

How so? If you'd be re-fitting it all the wiring etc would already be there? Just a case of re-connecting it and shoving it in the hole surely?

If only !!

No I bought the van with all the interior removed and in boxes ! The box containing the electrikary bits was most interesting, the previous owner hadnt even marked the wires to give a clue where they might go !

I finally decided to order the pink ones from EBAY, The seller had stopped selling those exact ones as had apparently found better ones, so have those instead, after 'her indoors' has given them a thorough road test I will give a detailed and in-depth review....... 8) Thank you all for your thoughts ands comments, :ok

We bought a 12v set from Asda for £5 Plugs into the cigarette lighter socket. Works perfectly!
