Hair Straighteners/Inverter

Post by pionte »

Forgive my ignorance when it comes to ladies hair fashion tools..... but will hair straighteners run ok off an inverter?

I am not 100 % sure but IIRC the straighteners will be rated at around 75 watts, so a 400 watt inverter should be ok ? I seem to recall reading somewhere as to possible problems with inductive load?

Any recommendations to which inverter to buy would also be greatly received .

My wife's GHD's are 35w but for some reason won't work on our 400w inverter.

I have a Ring Powersource R500. Rated at 500W continuous power output. The beauty of this inverter is that unlike cheaper inverters the fan does not run continuously while the inverter is in use; it only cuts in if the unit is supplying a really heavy load and gets hot - otherwise it is silent in operation. I permanently mounted mine under the Zig unit in my Komet and fed it with 10mm cable, dropping to 6mm for the last 7" or so. I've dragged 400W through it without problem but only as a test as the battery would go flat in minutes unless the engine was running....

The lard option would save an awful lot of hassle and expense though
