Hmm, i never thought my little geni would be so controversial! :D

I will of course be going for two leisure batteries as well as the starter battery. My camper will have a higher drain than most due to Espacher water heating system and also a compressor only fridge plus mrs Guzzi’s unprecedented electrical do-da usage. This being the case i can still see an emergency situation where all will be flat. I have managed to flatten my car battery twice this year, idiotic i know but possible. As to solar panels, i did look into them but to be honest you don’t get much for £200 (although its getting much better these days) plus arnt thay a little delicate? (i hve no experiance realy)

Really I’m clutching at straws, as far as I’m a concerned i am much happier with a completely independent system. As to petrol, 1 litre should give a good hours running time at least so easy to just stash away....
Personally, over the last few years, i can think of plenty of occasions where this would have been a real help
Plus (as I mutter about on mu Syncro post) you can never have too many engines!

:ok

I have a solar panel on my roof, often at shows have music blasting out and lights on all day and night, only got one 110amp les battery, and during the day it will be fully charged again ready for the next next all from 1 panel on the roof!

Really?

Any chance of a link to the type of panel please James?

Could do with one of them myself.
Martin.

Diesel is an engine not a fuel.

I liked camping so much I went full time.

i agree you cant have to many engines but for ease of use go solar, even with your genny if you fatten the starter battery you will have to charge it off you little genny for an hour just to get a couple of cranks outta it, with a panel its quiet and just doing its job soon as it gets light i have a 60w mounted on my rear roof rack with a charge controller to keep it from overcharging, if you feel the need to carry a chainsaw engine keep it in the chainsaw and use it to make firewood!
dont fix it if its not broke cos after you finish it will be!

You can get much better watts per pound on PV panels if you shop around.

Maplins are expensive...
