hi , just had my van serviced ready for the summer but since getting it back last week when im on the motorway doing about 60 for a few miles blue smoke is coming out of the exhaust for about 2 or 3 mins then clears . i have noticed that the oil level is about 1 inch above the fill mark on the dip stick would that be causing the smoke or have i got problems , it never smoked before i took her for a service . the funny thing is all week i have been doing small trips 5 miles max on normal roads 40 mph no problems just when i on the moterway doing 60 for a while thanks for any help

Ya an over fill would make it smoke and also check what grade oil they put in it....I would be taking it back first thing in the morning :wink:
Mmm what's that strange smell from my exhaust...

drain and refill, 10 minute job tops for petrol. An INCH over the fill? there are two marks on the dipsick, if it is an inch over the top mark then the previous oil wasn't drained before filling.

Go back to the garage and ask for an explanation, give them the opportunity to put it right, if you do anything yourself and it has caused problems you will not have any recourse on the garage, it could be just a genuine mistake, all they have done is overfilled it, I doubt very much that they have put clean oil over old oil, all they will have to do is drain a bit of oil off, but let them do it and if they cannot give you a satisfactory explanation then do not use them again.
