Re: Help needed with my NUTS!!!
I've done half of one, got started in the end at about 4pm, then i ran out of light, Nobody mentioned the copious amount of cleaning i would have to do, rusty bits and suchlike, it was a nightmare!!! but it all looks nice and spanky now. I will post some pics soon if i can figure out how to do it, Thanks again for all your help, Time for a shower to stop me looking like a chimney sweep and then i'm on for an early start tomorrow!

Re: Help needed with my NUTS!!!
Depending how easy it is to get replacements nuts it can be less risky in terms of collateral damage simply to shave one side down close to the thread with an agle grinder and cold chissel them off in the undo direction taking care not to damage the tread on the shaft. The nut will usually crack/split down the thinnest section thus releasing it to undo. Also good for getting stuck bearing inners off shafts.

Re: Help needed with my NUTS!!!
MATE!, it has been an absolute nightmare, i still aint finished. all the nuts to my brake lines where rusted solid and i've had to replace most of the brakelines and hoses because the nuts had rounded off, i'll end up back at the resevoir at this rate, and i cant budge the nut on the handbrake adjuster rod!! it's all well and good doing it yourself but i know why people use garages now!!!

Re: Help needed with my NUTS!!!
It is OFFICIAL! I will have to replace all my brake lines up to the reservoir, I have tried everthing to get the damn nuts loose and they will not budge, Has anyone else had this problem, i swear once this is done i will be out there monthly oiling all the nuts and bolts so the next person that gets this van don't have the same problem!!!! i wish i had never started!!!!!!

Re: Help needed with my NUTS!!!
what spanners are you using to undo the brake pipes m8? they should be proper pipe spanners to prevent the roundingoffness of doom. they're like a thick cast 6 sided ringspanner with a slot to get them over the pipe then slide them onto the fitting. anything else tends to round them off as they're made of butter.

Re: Help needed with my NUTS!!!
Yeah i got the proper spanners mate, but i dont think anyones touched them sinse the van left the factory! there just welded together with years of rust and crud, the nuts are welded to the pipes and the ones that do turn take the pipes round with them! I'm gonna by a TRANSIT!!!
