No and yes......in that order. One for temperature gauge and the other determines when to shut the manifild pre-hetaers and auto choke relay supply off. might be different on a 2.1 and the injection models but still doubt they are interchangeable, think the blue one acts a switch rather than a thermistor which is needed for a temperature gauge. Never checked the blue one so guessing on its actual internal function

Ah that may explain why the blue one didnt work when we tried it where the balck one should be!
the blue one on the left side of the 'stat housing is what provides coolant temp info to the ECU to keep the injectors open longer, ie richen the mixture, during warm up, and gradually lessen it as the engine warms up basically a variable resistor.
