Aidan hopefully will give his opinion on the easiest solution, I believe Russel once said he uses a single length of well-fitting hose and as it covers the boss when all is fitted, dowelling the pushrod requires driving the roll-pin through the hose.. sounds difficult to me, but then it must be possible.
One thing, don't tighten the long M5 set screws in the bracket until the puchrod is dowelled in place. It needs a bit of slop to align itself. It is a bit easy to break the 'reduced' end of the pushrod off. The roll-pins are 3mm dia. I think and the pushrod needs to fully inserted before driving rollpin in.
NB. Another method (easier) is to 'split' the hose lengthwise, and cable tie it in place at each end, and even use a shorter section of hose over the top to keep it closed.. sliding the short larger dia piece into position centrally once the roll-pin is in place
