Scotjock.. could you swap the internal bob weights over from your original 2.1 DJ dist. into the 2.0 A/C one to correct the flat spots? also i found that cleaning the rotating hall sender base plate parts with brake cleaner while i had it out, and giving them just a spot of 3in1 oil on the middle rotating bit near the circlip, made it move a lot more freely, which should help the advance/retard to work :)
same treatment to the bob weights wouldn't go amiss, too.

Bosch regularly change part numbers and superceed them.
If you have a Bosch number, it may not tally up to that list.

Swapping bob weights about does seem like a lot of messing about, what is actually wrong with the 2.1 dizzy? why not just put a repair kit in it and have done?

Oooops
have i made a mess of this.....simon(toomanytoys), as Rob says, it is you I meant to talk to, I just took the link at the bottom of your post as you...
sorry.... didnt read it properly.
The email I sent Aidan, meant for you, said " the Dizzy you cannot identify has the same number,(0237 022 053 vw number 025 905 205 N}... as the duff one from my 2.1 Dj...
is it working, can you sell it to me, how much would you like for it and how would you like paid?"
Hope this clears things up a bit, and please let me know via email if you wish.

Thanks Rob for trying to clear up the mess I made, you were of course absa right.....

Hi Simon(Brickwerks), ... I broke down on Duddon Bridge in Cumbria, very interesting position between two traffic lights controlling the single lane
traffic across the bridge(gulp!).Any way a very nice policeman pushed me with his van, got me off the bridge, and the very nice AA man then told
me I had an Ignition problem, Either Ignition amplifier or the coil.
He organised a flat bed home, and after testing swopping bits, it became apparent it was not the amplifier or the coil. Reading lead me suspect
the dizzy hall sender was kanackered. I fitted a 2.0ltr dizzy in tested it and it and everything worked fine. this proved to me the old dizzy hall sender wasnt sending. Then I posted the question which has lead to where we are now.

One thing puzzles me tho, I understand the 2.1 dizzy cannot be repaired by a layman, so I dont appreciate what a repair kit would do,or whether or
not the hall sender can be replaced? Clarification/tution would be appreciated.

Current situation is... the van is running almost perfectly on the 2.0ltr dizzy except for the flat spots ......

Thanks again fellas for all the input and I await anything further with great interest.
All the best
Doogie

can you put the working hall sender baseplate from the working 2.0a/c dist in the 2.1 dist? its fairly simple, circlips and screws to be removed/replaced, the haynes manual covers it. i assure you it will fit, alternatively, just campers do new ones for around 60 quid. prob non genuine vw tho at that price, unlike the one in the brickwers link above which seems the best bet. :)
