Re: European Breakdown Cover?

I've just asked this question on another thread because I didn't search before posting! I'll remember that next time :D We've just bought a van so I am looking for insurance at the moment and was asking whether it would be better to go for one with European Breakdown cover included or not. From the gist of this thread I will be going for the one that includes the breakdown cover! If anyone is still looking then I found a quote for £107 from Green Flag for annual multi trip cover. That was their rescue plus package which is one up from the basic cover.

I contacted Green Flag and they state the vehicle must be less than 16 years old, which rules out most T25's

My experience is:
Both RAC aand AA simply refused to cover my vehicles which were over ten years old.
SAGA also cut off but at fifteen years old.
I used ADAC but when my gearbox failed in the middle of France they wanted to scrap my camper as it had fallen off the bottom of their "Dus Glasses Guiden"
I have now got cover from a specialist vehicle insurer with an agreed valuation but I will still need reasurance from them before I start my next trip should I ever be able to persuade SWMBO to venture into Europe again after our very traumatic three days trying to get the van home.
 Cheers

Just gone with RAC Arrival Scheme.

No age/ length/ weight/ restrictions and full van repratiation cover included.
Also provided one years free membership of c&cc club in the price for what its worth.

12 months Roadside+recovery+home start+european for two people was £275
Recovery+european for one driver should work out at about £200

If you are in the Camping and Caravanning club the RAC will cover your camper of any age for European breakdown. Its an extra amount on your UK breakdown.
