European Breakdown Cover?

Post by ju »

HI, does anyone know where i can get a month of european breakdown cover for my T25. I am insured with Adrian Flux, but they say i had to sign up for the breakdown cover when taking out the policy, which i stupidly didn't do, and i can't tag it on until my renewal date. I have tried the aa on the internet and they are quoting £150 for one month which seems pretty steep to me.

Does anyone have any ideas? Would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Ju

ADAC is popular with some members. Or try this VW friendly guy.....

'robert@glynwoodinsurance.co.uk'

I've got my van covered through Glynwood Insurance and they have just sent me details about European Breakdown cover for under £70.00.

Good luck.

I am going by Brittany Ferries to France for two weeks in July and took out their standard Motoring insurance option.
The policy is with Europ Assistance.
Prices are £39.60 plus £17.10 for the vehicle being more than 10 years old. This includes a 10% discount as it is through Brittany Ferries.
They also do personal insurance. It was £64.80 for three adults, including 10% discount.

These are the cover details. http://www.brittany-ferries.co.uk/index ... icleID=275

Were you already with Footman James?
I am having the same problem. Nobody seems to have the Breakdown Cover/EU cover as a stand alone product.
AA quotes 150 quid but that is for multi trip. Single trip cost 68 quid.

Should have taken it out with the policy...

Thanks to all for the suggestions. Still no luck though. Footman James requires the breakdown cover to be taken at the start of an insurance policy. Brittany ferries, although a reasonable policy for breakdown, the ferries are alot higher priced than your standard dover-calais ferry. I havent been able to get hold of glynwood insurance, but i am guessing they may be the same as Footman James. I looked at the ADAC website also, but couldnt really understand much of it or find the relevant info.

I did find a company on money supermarket that would do a years european cover for £76, but after looking at online review sites, the company looks like a shambles, with loads of people being left stranded on the continent and out of pocket. I don't see there is any point getting breakdown cover that is going to make life even harder.

Does anyone have any other ideas before i bite the bullet and end up splashing out £150 with the AA

Just got the renewal docs through from Norwich Union for the Golf, they have put a flyer in saying they do European breakdown cover....

I've no idea of price or if it's any good or even if you have to have a policy with them, but might be worth a phone call

Although I got my cover booking with Brittany Ferries, I did say the actual policy was being provided by Europ Assistance. They provide single and multi trip cover.

Hiya, we're having the same problems with our t25, we did have a good quote with RAC but we tried to buy in a month later and they said it never existed so not sure what went on there! have u tried RAC??

Plus we also looked at HSBC, they do an account which offers european breakdown but it didnt suit us because the vehicle has to be under 15 years old which I suspect will be the same for you, but it might be worth trying other banks maybe?? Jus an idea. if you come across anything, let us know!! good luck!!

Hi. The last time I phoned ADAC ( used to live in Germany) many of them spoke English. You could try a phone call click Kontact at the on the bottom of the website http://WWW.ADAC.de" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, then click: Wichtige ADAC-Telefonnummern and try the first +49 number. Hope this is of some help

The best i have managed so far is with Britannia Rescue who quoted £101 for annual deluxe membership, which covers europe as well. they also offer personal cover for £29 extra which covers you and your partner in any car you are travelling in.

May end up doing this if i cannot find cheaper single trip cover.

Has anyone had recent dealings with ADAC who could possibly explain the deal, wether its annual or single trip cover, whether they recover the vehicle to the uk, roughly how much is it? etc. Any details would be greatly appreciated.

search for ADAC and you will find lots of info. The good and bad of ADAC have been discussed at length several times here.
