Zig CF8 Earthing? Homebrew Camper

Post by Yozza »

Ay up Folks,

It's that time of year and we're going 'posh' this year, (mains hook-up). I got a Zig CF8 unit and I'm plumbing it in. The three 10Amp circuits all show that the appliances (water pump, lights, etc) have the earth wire returning to the Zig unit.

Is this absolutely necessary ? It would be a lot easier to locally ground the appliance rather than running an earth wire back to the zig. The chassis is negatively eathed so what's the difference?

Any advice welcome, thanks.

It's because they were designed for caravans that don't have the readily available earthing route via a chassis. Just make sure you have the unit earthed.
When I fitted one though it was just as easy to run twin cable as a single one and saved having several earthing points to worry about.
