1987 1.6td diesel fuel filter

I'm trying to get a fuel filter for the above. All the filters listed by Just kampers and Volk Spares are different to the one currently fitted. I have tracked down the following filter which appears to be the same http://www.onlineautomotive.co.uk/produ ... _id=169442Does anyone know if this filter was fitted unusually to engines between Jan 87 and dec 87 or any other info.

Also is there a cheaper source available?

If in doubt do as we do in the trade, remove it and take it with your to you local parts supplier so it can be matched up with something on their shelves.

PS, why does it have to be the cheapest ?, it should only need replacing every 2 years (24,000 miles ) anyway..........

i have one of these filters I got by accident.PM me if you interested and we can double check .It will be cheap cheap like the birdie like just pay postage,its no good to me:ok

Thats the same as the one on my 1990 TD. Bit of a devil to fill with diesel before fitting, I fitted mine and then connected the inlet and sucked the fuel through using an oil pump the pipe of which fitted in the outlet a treat

Some more research has shown the following;
1.6 TD 01/87 > 12/87 (Eng:JX) seems to have had a different fuel filter to those before and after, but the same as that fitted to the Jetta at some point.

the best source I found was

Thanks Mikeyb, can i confirm that UP part no. is the one equiv to 842/3 please

and could you supplu unipart equiv. to 842/4 please too (with the clip-on return pipe)

gives this UP part no.5301 and 5322 as equivalent/compatible part plus lots of others

the same web site gives UP gfe 5308 as the equivalent for the WK 842/4
