My Man,,,,,if you would care to read further down the Forum menu you will find the 'Alternative Engine Forum', have a look at this section on all things related to Diesel engines and how they fit into T25s........

After reading this section you may think twice about an engine swap/transplant and simply fix the one you have.....

Regards

Fritz,,,,,,,,,

PS, my advice FWIIW is to simply buy a van with one all ready fitted......preferably a camper..
One day you will find me,,
Driving in my Camper,
With a Surf and Paisley wrap on both sides....

it's doable - someone did it to my last van - they went from 1.9 petrol to 1600 diesel - from what I could tell the following were needed/considered

* Dash clocks needed changed for diesel ones
* Electrics in engine bay needed modding for the glow plugs relay
* Water plumbing/pipework is needed
* You need to relocate the expansion header tank
* Bigger battery needed/you would have to relocate it into the engine area as it's too big to fit under the drivers seat
* Gearbox swapout (or bell housing at very least) for a diesel
* Starter is different
* Engine mounts
* Sump
* Fuel tank should be OK - going the other way usually causes more of an issue (diesels dont like petrol!)
* You would need to tell VOSA
* Insurance company might want to inspect the vehicle afterwards
* You may find yourself at the back of any van convoy - you think the 1600 Aircooled is slow well the 1600 diesel is just as bad! :?
* Unless your doing mega miles diesel is more expensive to use even though its better on mpg/you can use bio etc etc....

If you really serious about it I would say the best thing to do would be to buy a diesel van that is being broken and then rape the parts from that as it costs a fair bit for the parts/pipes :wink:
It is by will alone that I set my 'van' in motion!
