Water hoses - where to get them from !!

Post by ghost123uk »

OK I am half way through my engine swap ( in no hurry )

I need to replace this hose ( 1" bore x 6" long )

that goes here ( by the way my flash makes that bay look a lot worse than it is, honest )

Trouble is JK and GSF don't list it.

Seems no one stocks rad hoses any more ( likely because modern ones don't perish )

I could go to a breakers and find summat that would fit, but that's a load of mither in terms of time, driving and fannying about compared to just getting one over the counter or in the post !!

Any thoughts folks ?

Thanks for that bit of information when I wanted that exact piece of rubber hosing for one of my customers I was told it was no longer available for love or money from my local VAG. It cost me a fortune in trying to find a rubber hose that would contort to that figuration in the end we found another hose and cut it to fit.

Yep, same here. I had to cunningly fashion one from two pieces of hose, 3 Mikalor clips and a piece of 22mm copper

Had same problem. Sourced it from "van cafe" in states. Cost an arm and a leg for shipping but hose was only about $11. Luckily they had other bits I needed as well so didn't work out too bad.

Thanks for reminding me that it is not always a waste of time checking with the dealers guys !!

The Volkswagen Van Centre in Wrexham (0844 8112400) are getting me one in a couple of days :)

Just an update for future readers of this.

That part number did not fit properly at all :(

I bought it (£8.50) and got it home only to find it was too much of a Z shape whereas mine was more of a gentle S shape ( see pics above ) and shorter in both length and width.

I had to cut 3" off it and force the Z bend into a gentle S curve, producing a slight kink in the pipe in the process.

At least it does the job, but it's not "right".

Still grateful for the help though folks.

I guess as time goes on, hose manufacturers are likely to be the best bet, plus I assume, you could find a better quality of hose by going direct to a maker. Might even work out cheaper.
