[IMG:640:480]http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e377/ ... dge128.jpg[/img]

And where does that flex hose in the background connect to/have on it?

pic one should be connected (via one of those flimsy flexible paper type hoses) to the auxiliary cooling fan (for the turbo) in your air intake.

pic two is the breather pipe for your gearbox, that's correct the way it is ...doesn't connect to anything at the top

Theoretically there should be an extra fan in your left air intake besides the engine compartment (behind the rear lights)
This fan comes on together with the aux water pump when you shut off the engine when it's very hot (too hot). The fan then blows air on the turbo via the pipe/hose you're missing.

As these measures resemble locking the barn door once the horse has bolted, not having it connected doesn't really make a difference.

Sorry for jumping on the thread - is this cooling set up standard?
I have an 88 1.6TD and I do not have this set up. Is it only for Dokas?

I'm not 100% sure ...afaik the aux water pump (visible in pic2 next to the top end of the open pipe) is standard on all jx's

The aux fan may or may not be on Syncros only ...it's definetly there on my Syncro window van ...but I don't recall having it in my previous 2WD jx

the rubber pipes are the bellhousing breather/wading pipes syncro specific they are there to allow the 215mm clutch to get some air and allow the vehicle to wade a little without flooding the clutch with water !!!!

Went out and took a few pics.

I've got two of those breather pipes, one goes to the bell housing, the other to the gearbox
[img:800:532]http://img374.imageshack.us/img374/276/ ... iumed4.jpg[/img]

This is the hose that goes on your open ended pipe
[img:800:532]http://img374.imageshack.us/img374/9623 ... iumod0.jpg[/img]

and the last one is looking behind the air filter. The yoke with the red connector on top is the auxilliary fan. On the left of it is the air intake pipe (which in my case goes up into the "ear") and left of that (going under the intake) you can just about make out another bit of that hose you're missing

Cheers for taking the time to look at yours.

I will have another poke around tomorrow. I do remember seeing some, what I thought was dodgy DIY hoses, in the above corner.
