Draining the coolant from a 2.1

Post by Auto »

Hi every one ive just got my first t 25 and I'm new to all this water cooled stuff
I have been told to drain the coolant from the lowest pipe under the engine and i have jacked the front end up and unscrewed the bleed valve on the radiator but i have only managed to drain a small amount out, a washing up bowl full, i now there's supposed to be more in there any tips would be much appreciated thanks Phil

There are two drain plugs behind the push rod covers .. , allen key bolts

heres a tip , while the covers are off , drill a hole below the bolt and then next time you won't have to remove them

also like kev says remove the cap

Thanks for the info every one i'll look for the drain plugs between the push rod tubes Ive probably only drained about 5-6 liters with the header cap off with the majority of it coming from the engine side and less coming from the front is it worth disconnecting the other main pipe that runs to the radiator?
I have also noticed some dampness on the seams behind the push rod tubes not leaking too serious though is this bad news or is there an easy fix ?
Ive not had chance to get a Haynes yet only just got the bus thats the next thing on the list i hope I'm not going to need it too often :?

they can leak from higher up and drip around to there core plugs in carb pipes and other coolant pipes around the engine bay dry them off and check for leaks once pressurised up.
