Oil In The Turbo Inlet, Diesel question?

Ive just spent the past few days replacing the engine and gearbox in my van a diesel engine and box. I thought I would take the plastic inlet pipe off the turbo to check its condition, when I did about half a pint of oil spewed out all over me. Is this likely to be a build up of oil the engine has breathed out or something else? Its a jr engine which i believe means it came from a golf gtd. Any ideas would be appreciated.

It`s either come down the inlet pipe from the engine breather (that`s a lot of engine breathing though) or the turbo seals / bearing are knacked on the inlet side (and probably the exhaust side as well)

Picture of top of engine will aid in saying what could be wrong.

I'll get my camera out in the morning. Its got the golf type ufo thing on the rocker cover. Got a shock when all the oil came pouring out. It soaked through my boiler suit jumper and t shirt and stained my skin black. Made a puddle on the garage floor too so there was quite a lot in there.

Thats part of problem then, re route breather hose so its harder for it to blow oil out of breather.
