Swampy wrote:Hi Sheffield. I have a european Van & sorted the Fog-Light-On-Wrong-Side issue without having to buy any additional light cluster. I hope this makes sense...

In my case I had to locate the wire that powered the Fog Light on the Left-Hand side. Once I found it I pulled it out of the set of sockets that plug into the Light Cluster. I then attached a longer length of wire to that & secured it across my engine bay, following a few other wires heading that way. Shoved the connector bit into the set of sockets on the right. That sorted the Power-To-Fog-Light problem.

I had already removed the left-hand lenses & the right-hand lenses.

I removed the left-hand light cluster - turned it upside down & then installed it into the RIGHT-hand side.

I turned the right-hand cluster - turned that upside down & then put this one on the left-hand side.

I then made sure that all bulbs were in their correct place & put the lenses back on. Fog Light works perfectly.

Passed MOT.

I had the wire lying around & was able to reuse the old connector, so it should cost you almost nothing for this.

Hope this helps.
hey stinky ;-)

Thanks for the reply..that had crossed my mind or something along that line(anything to save money, cos i aint got none) hehe

its seems mine didnt have got lights at all at the rear, or if it did, the metal contact part had fallen loose. i dont really mind if its one of those added on, or inside the cluster as long as i can it it MOT'd

Did later year ones come with 2 foglights at the rear? just curious cos my old 3 bimmers did so didnt matter or need changing...

Not 3wd anymore! Actully now I'm 0WD at the moment in a van sence as its having the gearbox done, (along with the missing driveshaft).

Wether I'm mobile depends on if my Land-Rover starts or not, the cold spells have just finished off the battery so I might need something to jump it off before I can go buy a new batt (certainly has at the start of every day this weekend, funny how it only got this bad as soon as I no longer have the van to jump it off  ). Thats my main mission tomorrow so when thats done...

I'll PM you my number and we can sort something out tomorrow (or work out exactly whats needed). I get what Swampy is on about, just depends if you have a left hand foglamp or not.

You been talking to my missus?...

Well, I can confirm that my old '85 only came with one Fog Light at the rear & none up front.

Sounds like your best bet would be to scrounge a scrapper light cluster from a breakers yard, unless you can adapt the existing cluster somehow...
