what size is your exhaust ? i have used AAZ manifolds inlet and outlet BUT cut the AAZ exhaust flange off the pipe , centre bored hole out/cleaned up and used the JX pipe for now that has been fabbed with some jetex angle/bends etc to use JX box.bizzarely the AAZ downpipe is narrower than the JX , 2" is WAY to small , think AAZ is 2 1/8" and JX is about 2 3/8" . apparently 2 1/2" is the one to go for .

Not checked boost pressure yet as don't have a gauge...yet!

noticed on another thread you have tinkered with fuelling - lock nut on tight ? set it back to factory and see what happens maybe ?

Fuel consumption has dropped a bit now - mid 30's
max speed is about 75 and slow getting there.

They are respectable figures for a 2 ton van that's square.at the front and the back.. :)

Make sure the exhaust is a 2.5" ID pipe mated nicely to a turbo mating flange of similar size, opened up nicely... a similar dia. straight-through absorption style silencer would be good, and quiet too.

Check your boost, thats the easy one to measure, and should be 7.5 psi(std) and hopefully 10 to 12 at least, that won't harm anything... just bled off some wastegate feedback pressure to increase it.

When an efficient intercooler is fitted, then start upping the fuelling, and see your consumption come down and performance go up... to whatever you want really, until it goes bang.. that's the line you have to find.

There is a big difference between 75 down a 1/100 incline with a 15mph tailwind than coming the other way up the same incline with a 15 mph headwind - VERY BIG DIFFERENCE :evil:

Just looked at tyre size calc and might change the rear tyres to gain a few more mph.
currently 205/55R16 and i'm thinking 205/75R16....

I'm leaning towards the tyre change...the bus will be up 40mm at the back but I quite like the raked look anyway..and according to calculations will gain me 2.5mph/1000rpm..for about £90!

Reading the first post in this thread struck a chord with me and my van...

I'm fairly clueless mechanically and have had my AAZ fitted by my very decent and reliable local VW man. I've every confidence in his work but can't help feeling slightly disappointed with the finished result - only because I was hoping to be cruising at about 70 on motorways, rather than 60. I'm loving the extra torque but overall it doesn't seem to go a lot quicker than the JR/3H combo I had previously. If I floor it, it'll go up to about 78, on the level, albeit slowly. Am I expecting too much? I know, it's only 5bhp extra...

...but it's mated to a recon AAP box with taller 0.78 5th gear. There's no oil cooler and I've no extra gauges, although those will probably be the next upgrades. The engine has 69k on it.

fit a 1.6 LDA pin - REALLY wakes the engine up and makes it a different beast. improved mpg aswell.sorts the fuelling out BIG TIME.
