manula choke for twin solex carbs

Post by mattrsa »

Is there such a thing? The auto choke on mine does not seem to be working.

Thanks in advance

it seems to get stuck open when i start it and then it runs rich for ages before eventually settling down to a fairly normal idle

if its open then its not working , prob some one has tweaked the mixture to make it run. if you undo the three screws on the side of the carb by the choke you can rotate it it to engage the choke. adjust it soz the choke just closes.

On an old twin solexed bay I used to run I just wound the choke flap fully open and disconected the wires so that she ran with no choke. I was livin in Aberdeen at the time in the winter, she would start first time, i would sit with her ticking over for about 30 seconds and away I would go. No problem. Much better hot starting after that aswell.
