GTI engine upgrade

Post by mortcars »

rite after my rebuilt waterboxer blew again ive decided to do a gti engine upgrade, i know i want an engine from a 8v golf gti but i ws wondering if anyone can point me to the best golf to buy..mk1/mk2?? and if there is a particular engine code i want and is the 1.8 or 2.0 better??
then theres wiring... i know one of em has i think its called digifant ecu and i believe all it needs is a positive feed..?
oh and is it easy to retro-fit the clocks out of the golf into the t25?

and finally dose anyone have a complete list of parts needed from a diesel t25?

Trya quick search on diesel mounts or diesel bars or bellhousing or conversion, theres loads of threads on here listing the bits, and on Brickyard too..

But they'e getting rare and not that cheap for the whole lot you need, although 2WD bars will be cheaper (they'r different than Syncro ones)

Bellhousing, diesel spigot shaft, flywheel/clutch, mounting bars, starter motor, usually a custom exhaust, are the basics...

An upright installation would require fabricating the mounts and think using a differnt flywheel and starter and an adpater plate

Hi Dan, you need the main fuel pump from the GTi, lift pump is not necessary, plus a relay to run it, this connects to ecu loom.
check out GTi rev counter post in modified section for how to fit Golf rev counter.
