Aircooled t25 convirsion to deisel
have been reading on here and on the brickyard about deisel convirtions for my t25 and I am getting realy confused
i want to take the Aircooled 2.0l outta the gypsy and put somthing with more power in
im fedup with going up hill in 1st and 2nd, the 2.0l Aircooled engine is not really suited the the weight of the gypsy with all the camping stuff and people
what do i need, I would like the 1.9 tdi 110bhp engine but am getting confused about aaz etc etc and all this business of having to keep the clocks and ingnition from the doner car due to imobilisers
any help would be great

remeber its not just an engine change for you you have no radiator in the front and as a diesel need one its gonna take a lot more work to fit is there nothing you can do with the aircold one like better carb etc ???

its got a good pair of webber 40's
was going to get electronic ignition back on it cuz it has a 009 dizzy
also was going to change the heat exchangers and standard exhaust for a wider bore one which may wall help with the power output
but apart from that not much else I can do unless i want to split the case and look at putting a better cam etc etc
mounting a rad with a good couple of fans and doing the pipe work is not a problem its just that i dont know what type of engine to go for
would like the 1.9 tdi either 110 or 150 bhp, the rad is the least of my problems

Min you need is the d/td belhousing, sump and engine mount..
Check what gearbox code you have, but prob not worth swapping as you will need the high ratio gears it should already have, for the TDi..
There are a few options for the Aircooled and certainly the 009 is a killer.. the original dist and plumb in the vac advance (one of the 40's ought to have a vac take off for it) a descent zorst ought to help too and set it up on a rolling road.. after that you wont get much more without spending a good bit more on the engine..

Just going to say the 009 seems to be frowned on for killing a good spread of troque - but then Si said same thing it in different words!
There's also a fairy full list of conversion buts for the TD on the Wiki from GaryD - the TDi will require much the same adpation parts, if you are going for a 52 degree installation.

You're going for a fully keyed electronic Tdi then?
Who's doing the harness/ re-coding?
