Relay - Wiring Query

Post by TLammers »

Hi to one and all :D
Having recently purchased an 85 1.9 W/C pop top caravelle, i've now begun the process of modernising the inside, starting with the wiring/appliances. The previous owner was an old boy who hadnt used the van in a few years and had disconnected many of the vans ancillaries and i'm not convinced that what remains connected is correct (i'm no sparky).
I'm sure this has been covered by previous posts but couldn't find anything that answered my query so i'm after a bit of advise.

My question is regarding the Lucas 6RA relay that is mounted next to the battery under drivers seat (rhd)...

Are the following Wires on the Relay terminals correct??

C1 (double terminal) - Power direct from 12V battery + 12S-2 Tow charge feed.

C2 - Fridge Switch from the Dash

W1 - To Chassis Earth + Fridge (-) Negative/Earth

W2 - Fridge (+) Positive

Don't know if it makes a difference but the distribution unit is a Warner CTF 5000.

Thanks
If it aint broke - fix it anyway!

If you replace the leisure battery in the diagram for the fridge

I'm assuming this is what you are posting about :D

Thanks kevtherev for the hyperlink :)
That kinda gives me an idea but the numbers 85, 86, 87 and 30 - what do they correspond to on my relay?
ie - C1 C2 W1 W2??

May I suggest that your C1 = 30...C2 = 86 (but fed from the alternator)

W1 = 85....W2 = 87
