Re: Fixing a 3rd seat in the back??????

Em, I missed this other thread - but I would be interested in photos of your set-up and details of that web-site as need to get a buddy-seat set up in my van 'cos using it this winter for school run and need another reliable space for a child-seat. Would lap-belt be ok in rear-facing seat do you thi...

Re: WELDER, Which one??

Hi. I'm using an old Sealey 180/1 Supermig. Paid about £160 with 2 bottles of CO2 and a Speedglas mask thrown in. Looks rough but works really well. I use an Argon/CO2 mix because works better for thin stuff - especially if you're a beginner like me. I've never done gasless - just looks too messy! Y...

Re: turbo - exhaust support

Hi - I've just been sorting out my AAZ install using a JX manifold and fitted exactly the same bracket. I bought mine from VW and was £30 incl VAT. Possibly a bit steep but time of the essence, etc. Part no = V068145841A. I also got the relevant set-screws for both ends ( 2-off each end) as follows:...

Well - that's what I thought. Tried for some time but didn't budge - not at all.
Should have tried harder I guess - or heated it maybe!
Anyway it can stay there now as I've just got my sump to stop leaking for first time ever.

I don't want to hi-jack your thread, but I'd be very interested in the answer too.
First of all however - how do you get the AAZ one out? I couldn't get mine to shift.
Many thanks,
David

leaky sump on AAZ

Hi everybody - great to see some sunny weather! Been spending some time sorting out my leaky sump on diesel AAZ engine. All nice and tight with one of Simon Baxter's rubber gaskets and a couple of helicoiled holes - but still leaking (grrr!) Have small crack on corner of sump at front just behind th...

Re: Diesel sump bolts

Excellent! Thanks for reply - have already chased ALL sump bolt holes with a thread-restoring tap, so nice & clean. Lot of gunk in some of them. Need to get some new ones anyway as some missing, so not fully tightened yet. Will contact CJ & see what he's got - has been very helpful in the pa...

Diesel sump bolts

Hi - congrats on upgrading forum! Just wanted to check whether the 2 bolts that hold gearbox to sump on diesel are essential. I've just replaced sump gasket & renewed some sump bolts to cure a leak & discovered the above bolts are missing. If I need to replace these, what part no am I lookin...

Hi. I've done both sides of mine fairly recently. Took half a day or so all in. I used a angle-grinder to cut off one end of bolts on inner & outer side of each arm. Use the disc between plates attached to vehicle & trailing-arm - bits of rubber & lots of dust! Be careful on inners as ea...

AAZ exhaust query

Hi Elvis, when you say "cut 'n' shut" JX downpipe, do you mean that pipe itself has to be cut & then rewelded at different angle so will actually fit AAZ manifold & end up in right place for silencer? Have offered up JX downpipe to manifold, & silencer end points up at bumper!!...

1.9TD exhaust query

Hi all, been sorting out my camper that I bought back in March. It had already been converted to AAZ from a CS diesel - although conversion pretty poor. Looks like they've retained standard AAZ exhaust manifold & turbo, but then welded CS exhaust pipe to it. Larger diameter pipe with big olive s...

HI - thanks for replies - will try local agricultural suppliers - plenty of those around here!

I'm not sure where my local Mobil stockist would be - hence question originally. How would I find out?

I got my kit from Brickwerks - hope that helps.

Thanks again.

Mobil Blue grease & gear linkage

Hi
Replacing gear linkage with kit at the weekend.
Where can I get the Mobil Blue grease that is used in Wiki article - or can I use something else?

Cheers all.

Hi Simony I got them second-hand from Syncrospares near Cullompton in Devon - which is pretty much on my way home from work. Cost £84 each - and they were in very good nick. Apparently he has a load of them - although reckoned he sold about 10 in last couple of weeks! Check out his website for conta...
