muttley wrote:Has anyone got one of those outside wrap around windscreen silver screen covers, are they any better than the usual inside ones?

Thanks :ok

Yes, mine are 'Silver Screens', they are a lot less faff than the inside ones, look very good when fitted...can be a bit tight if you have a pillar aerial.

Had the same problem, got a new bulb from my local VW people cost about £4 inc. postage, seems OK, but it is a little duller than the original.

2ltr AC CU engine.

I had a similar problem with backfiring, checked and found the rubber elbows had come off the intake manifolds under the carbs, one goes to the brake servo pipe, refitted them and cable tied them on...everything OK now.

UPDATE.

Right, have been looking at the battery again after 4 days elapsed, without being run/charged.

Standing: 12.77 volts
Tick over: 14.17 volts (approx750rpm)
1500 rpm approx: 14.18 volts.

Haven't done the earth problem yet, but what do you think about the readings?

Thanks for any replies or advice.

Thanks guys, will leave it a few days off charge and see what happens.

In the mean time I'll check/clean the earth connections, and have a go at the dimmer switch.

I'm not Mocki... but that's one healthy alternator you have the dash lights may be a fault with the actual dimmer control Thanks Kev the Rev, I tried the dash lights control in various dim/bright positions. I've got one of those chargers that you leave on during lay-ups, so I know the battery is fu...

This may be a one for Mocki? UPDATE

Using a multimeter on volts only. I'm trying to check if my alternator is OK, I'm getting 13.4volts with the ignition on and the meter across the battery, when I run the engine it reads 14.80 volts..is this OK ? Would this indicate that the alternator is supplying sufficient power OK? The reason I a...

I think you may have a bit missing.

My 1980 Devon has a neat 4 slot facia panel covering 'the holes' shown in your picture.

I can divert the air to the rear by using the heater control levers.

I had problem with the old 2 way fridge in me van. Stripped out the armoured hose and found a load of 'waxy' substance blocking the pipe. It also had the 'fag type filter' fitted to the gas control valve. I rectified the problem by binning the fridge and fitting a 3 way type, with new copper piping ...

My roof is held in place by 2 external 'overcentre' clasp and anchor type buckles. Internally there is a sort of brown webbing type lashing strap - same material as the water tank retainer strap - this is anchored to the roof about midway, and then goes through a loop that is rivetted to the van ste...
