What are the holes ???

Post by squire »

Does any one know what the holes are that are underneath the seats, they are sculptured into the plastic in the cab area, i assumed they were vents but no air comes from them :?

A friend has a panel van and they are not on his so i assume they are linked to camping

I have them on my Devon, and they are connected to the heater, and they do blow lots of hot/cold air.

cant really tell to well from the pic, but looks like a the walkthroough heater duct, so if you set the heater to blow to the floor and not up the screen, it should blow into the back........

Thats excellent news if thats what they are....but no air gets blown through em, I can only assume that they must be blocked, i will av to sellotape a load of susies knitting needles together to try and poke around in there.

Do other coversions not have 'em or is it a 'devon' thing....?

nope, its not a devon thing, i would think only very late devons have them, its a spec thing.......
caravelles had them , so converted panel vans didnt unless they were added as a upgrade spec......

if you pull the panel in front of the gear stick off, you will see where the duct connects up to the heater outlets, check this is clear, and they havent been covered over.......

I think you may have a bit missing.

My 1980 Devon has a neat 4 slot facia panel covering 'the holes' shown in your picture.

I can divert the air to the rear by using the heater control levers.
