Hey - thanks for the replies guys, Yes I have a Haynes manual and have had a look at the handbrake assembly section. Excellent news - All is well (for now!)

It was the earth coil. One of the spades was buggered and the wire burnt out! Put a new spade on and gave the contact a clean, and all is lovely!

When I put my full beams on the lights go out! Turning off full beam puts them on again? Would this be a bad earth?
