Headlights flashing with indicators???

Post by winnie »

Got a bit of a problem here any suggestions would be welcomed!

When i switch the headlights on they dont work! The full beam light comes on too. The dim setting works but when i indicate both headlamps flash and the indicators are just on like the headlamps should be. I've replaced the continental fuses, and checked they are all the right ones. So is it something to do with the relays? or earth's?

Any help would be great, thanks!

EARTH EARTH EARTH aswell as and failing that check the connection on the rear of the light units.
The crown points behind the glove box start to corrode after a few years

check 'crown of earths' next to (behind - lh side) of fusebox -
clean - make sure bright n tight on holders - (photos on wiki) -

take off dash pod (where clutch n brake reservoir live) - and look at back of the lights switch - connections bright n tight? clean n reconnect -

wiggle white multi plug under dash next to drivers right knee (if r h drive) - ( photos on wiki) - make sure connections are tight -

check fuses for lights work - (2 for dipped and full for mine) -
check fuse holder for fuses - clean and tight -

check bulb - check bulb holder/contacts - clean
check wiring between fuse and headlamp - is there any chafing? splits anywhere? -

check relay for headlamp - (map of different relays n fuses on wiki) -

my knowledge runs out at this point...
:)
tho - i'm sure others here can guide you further -

Excellent news - All is well (for now!)

It was the earth coil. One of the spades was buggered and the wire burnt out! Put a new spade on and gave the contact a clean, and all is lovely!

Thanks again for the help, i can now go out at night again!
