Re: Earthing problems I think?
Well after all these months I finally got time to fit a new starter. I’ve recently cleaned all the terminals. Have a new control module and relay in the front passenger fuse box fitted. Van has been sitting for a while. All I’m getting is a clicking noise from a brand new starter and the click is al...

Re: Earthing problems I think?
Hello My new starter turned up and looks very similar but when trying to fit it the pinion shaft that goes into the bush was a fraction bigger than the old starter I used? So it wouldn’t fit. Are there two different sizes shafts?, I thought I ordered the correct one for a petrol DG engine. Can anyon...

New starter motor
Ok, so tested the starter motor and looks like it’s shot.
Don’t want to spent large amounts of cash on a Bosch unit as I’m going to sell it soon.
My worn starter is a copy part. Any good remade make out there that are reasonably priced?
It’s a 19.dg engine
Thanks guys

Re: Earthing problems I think?
Hello,
I actually bought my replacement negative battery cable from brickwoks. It’s 35mm with 8mm ring terminal. Looks like the correct length.
Would this be acceptable to use?
Couldn’t find a brass exact copy of the original
Thanks

Re: Earthing problems I think?
Hello,
I never touched the starter. It’s as it was. I haven’t tampered with the electrics except for the earths on the battery behind the seat and the gearbox. Going to test the starter tomorrow to see what’s the score. Then plan to check the ignition if no joy!
Thanks all for help

Re: Earthing problems I think?
Hey thanks buddy
I can’t think of anything else it could be. I have nothing on they key now. It turned previously but did smell burning. And with the negative battery cable very hot I read the solenoid is probably fried.
Will check that first. Thanks for the help

How easy is it to remove a starter motor and can it be achieved without jacking it up ?
How many bolts have to be removed?

Re: Earthing problems I think?
Hey thanks for the reply. I tried putting fuel in the throat of the carb. Started to catch but didn’t. I’ve always had to do this if sitting for a while. Going to replace the fuel filter under the van. Looks a little nessy. I’m sure I smelt a little burning from the rear of the van. I’m wondering if...
