Gearbox mounts.
I am considering and researching an engine swap from petrol to diesel. For relative simplicity, my plan is go for a good JX for now - the reasoning is that as T25 engine it will already have the correct sump, bellhousing etc. I know that I will need the engine mounting bars, glow plug wiring plus an...

1.9DG to diesel swap.
I used to own a T25 with a 1.7KY engine which not obviously not quick, but it was very reliable and pretty economical. I had planned to put a 1Y in it but never got round to it before I sold the van after moving house. I still regret selling the van but I now have another - this time a 1.9DG petrol....

Re: 1.9 DG - new van.
Thanks for the reply Aidan and interesting information that I had not come across before. I need to get the engine checked out by someone who knows more than me about them. As it happens I bought the van not far from you (Dolanog) and also live quite locally. Do you have a recomendation for a garage...

1.9 DG - new van.
I need some advice please. I have just bought a G-Reg T25 1.9DG. My previous T25 was a diesel and I'm much less familiar with petrol engines. It has not had any fuel lines replaced for use with E10 petrol. the previous owner who had it for 10 years only drove it occasionally and used E5 super-unlead...

Re: Hitop to pop top
I changed my high-top to a Reimo pop-top last year and it all went pretty smoothly and I'm happy with the result. The pop-top was second hand via this forum and I was lucky that the actual roof of my van was in good nick at the corners and I did all the work myself so the cost was not too great. But...

Thanks Colin the fox; that's all useful hints. I shall try and get someone on board before it comes out of the Golf.

Re: To 1Y or not to 1Y?
Thanks for the replies so far. I guess I'm still leaning towards the 1Y as I'd like to keep things as simple as possible ie no turbo. The 1Y I have is still in the car, but I'd like to get it re-furbed or at least checked over before it is fitted. I shall speak to some diesel engineers/experts about...

To 1Y or not to 1Y?
I'm in the middle of doing up my van and having largely finished the bodywork and painting, my thoughts are turning to the engine. It's currently a 1.7ky which is in good condition (it had a new head etc just before I bought it a few years ago) and was running nicely before I took it off the road. H...

Re: Paint Your Wagon - with a roller!
Well, after a rather erratic and slow approach to sorting out my van (I bought Covkid's down load back in the spring) I have just ordered the Combicolor from Avenue Coatings. I would heartily recommend them as they are both helpful and friendly; I had been pulling my hair out over what standard RAL ...
